Entrance Matting Adhesive
JM900

JM900 is a specially formulated SOLVENT FREE acrylic copolymer emulsion adhesive. This easy to spread adhesive is designed for the permanent bonding of Morley Entrance Matting. The adhesive dries to form a strong bond that is also pressure sensitive i.e. the more you roll on it the stronger it becomes. The adhesive is non-staining, has excellent resistance to plasticiser migration and is suitable for use over normal underfloor hearing installations.
This adhesive is NOT recommended for use in wet areas.
USES
JM900 is recommended for permanent bonding the range of Morley Entrance Matting
SUBFLOORS
Suitable subfloors include concrete, sand/cement screed, smoothing underlayment, plyboard, flooring grade chipboard, hardboard, wood and existing well bonded resilient flooring. Note: There are certain types of flooring grade chipboard that have been treated with paraffin wax to provide a waterproof quality. These types of chipboards are not suitable for use with this adhesive. With existing well bonded resilient flooring care must be taken to ensure the subfloor under the resilient flooring is sound and the surface of the resilient flooring is thoroughly cleaned of any polish etc. If this cannot be done, the existing resilient flooring must be removed and the subfloor made good before proceeding.
PREPARATION
All parts of the installation should comply with the latest edition of the following British Standard Code of Practice: BS8203 The Installation of Resilient Floorcoverings or BS5325 The Installation of Textile Floorcoverings. Another useful source of reference is The CFA Guide to Contract Flooring. Subfloors must be sound, smooth, clean, dry and free from any contamination that will affect adhesion. Relative humidity of cementitious subfloors should be 75% or less (when tested by method described in BS8203). Direct to earth bases must incorporate an effective damp proof membrane. Underfloor heating must be switched off for 48 hours before and after the installation. Very absorbent surfaces should be primed with a suitable sealer.
APPLICATION
For best results a minimum air temperature of 18°C (65°F) and a floor temperature of 10°C (50°F) should be maintained for the installation. An appropriate V notched trowel should be used to apply the adhesive evenly. Any tools should be cleaned after use with water whilst the adhesive is still wet.
For profiled and porous backings: a 2.0mm x 6.0mm or MTB1 V notched trowel is recommended. On absorbent surfaces the matting can be laid immediately or for faster bond development allow the adhesive to develop a slight tack before laying.
For vinyl and smooth backings: a 1.5mm x 5.0mm or MT-A2 V notched trowel is recommended. The adhesive should be allowed to develop a slight tack before placing the matting. To reduce waiting time before laying, the “double drop” method can be employed. When the installation is laid, press the matting from the centre outwards to exclude any bubbles and then roll with a 68kg roller in two directions. A second heavy roller application after about 1 hour is recommended to ensure a strong bond is established.
HEALTH & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet and follow the advice given.
- Ensure the area of use is well ventilated.
- Avoid prolonged contact with skin and if sensitive, use barrier cream or gloves.
- In case of contact with eyes, mouth or nose, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical help.
- If adhesive is spilled, remove and dispose of it in accordance with national and local regulations for waste materials.
