Premium Pressure Sensitive Adhesive
JM700

JM700 is a SOLVENT FREE pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive that is easily applied either by trowel, roller or brush. It dries quickly to form a strong pressure sensitive adhesive for resilient floorcoverings.
The adhesive is non-staining, has excellent resistance to plasticiser migration and is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating systems.
USES
JM700 can be used to install the following: PVC, vinyl sheet, vinyl tile, vinyl cushion, other vinyl backed floorcoverings including textile felt backed vinyls. Carpets with backings of PVC, polyurethane foam, gel (including impervious), and felt backed carpets. JM700 could also be suitable for other floorcoverings including some cork, linoleum tiles and rubber. If there is any doubt over the suitability of the adhesive for any application the installer should carry out tests to prove suitability or contact our Technical Department.
SUBFLOORS
Suitable subfloors include concrete, sand/cement screed, smoothing underlayment, plyboard, flooring grade chipboard, hardboard, wood and existing well bonded resilient flooring. Note: There are certain grades of flooring grade chipboard that have been treated with paraffin wax to provide a waterproof quality. These types of chipboards are not suitable for use with this adhesive With existing well bonded resilient flooring care must be taken to ensure the subfloor under the resilient flooring is sound and the surface of the resilient flooring is thoroughly cleaned of any polish etc. If this cannot be done, the existing resilient flooring must be removed and the subfloor made good before proceeding.
PREPARATION
All parts of the installation should comply with the latest edition of the following British Standard Code of Practice: BS8203 The Installation of Resilient Floorcoverings or BS5325 The Installation of Textile Floorcoverings. Another useful source of reference is The CFA Guide to Contract Flooring. Subfloors must be sound, smooth, clean, dry and free from any contamination that will affect adhesion. Relative humidity of cementitious subfloors should be 75% or less (when tested by method described in BS8203). Direct to earth bases must incorporate an effective damp proof membrane. Underfloor heating must be switched off for 48 hours before and after the installation. Very absorbent surfaces should be primed with a suitable sealer.
APPLICATION
For best results a minimum temperature of 18°C (65°F) should be maintained for the installation with a floor temperature of at least 10°C (50°F). An appropriate V notched trowel should be used to apply the adhesive evenly. For vinyls and other smooth backed floorcoverings a 1.5mm x 5.00mm or MT-A1 or MT-A2 trowel is recommended. To reduce the effect of shadowing on some vinyls, it is recommended that the adhesive is smoothed out whilst wet with a paint roller that has been pre-wetted with adhesive. For floorcoverings with a more profiled back a larger trowel should be selected. Clean off any adhesive contamination with water whilst the adhesive is still wet. This versatile adhesive can now be used as a wet-bond, pressure sensitive or contact adhesive onto absorbent substrates and as a pressure sensitive or contact adhesive onto non-absorbent substrates. For wet-bond: Allow an open time of 5 to 20 minutes; lay the floorcovering and roll it with a 68kg roller in two directions within 30 minutes and again within 2 hours. For pressure sensitive: Allow an open time to when the adhesive has developed a slight tack to the touch. This is usually between 20 and 40 minutes. The open time can be reduced by, either smoothing out the wet adhesive with a pre-wetted roller or employing a “double drop” technique. After the floorcovering is placed, roll it with a 68kg roller in two directions and again within 2 hours. For contact adhesion: Always smooth out the wet adhesive with a pre-wetted roller or use the “double drop” technique and then allow the adhesive to dry completely. After the floorcovering is placed, roll it in two directions with a 68kg roller. Note: The application of a heavy roller onto the completed installation will always increase the bond strength with this adhesive.
