Heavy Duty Gripper Adhesive

A2

A2

This gunnable adhesive has a setting time of approximately 8 hours, depending on site conditions.

USES

It is most commonly used for the fixing of carpet grippers, trims and stairnosings. It can also be used to fix plastic & wooden skirtings, batons, boards and panels. It also can be used as a gap filler.

SUBFLOORS

Suitable subfloors include concrete, sand/cement screed, smoothing underlayment, plyboard, flooring grade chipboard, hardboard, wood and existing well bonded resilient flooring. Note: There are certain grades of flooring grade chipboard that have been treated with paraffin wax to provide a waterproof quality. These types of chipboards are not suitable for use with this adhesive With existing well bonded resilient flooring care must be taken to ensure the subfloor under the resilient flooring is sound and the surface of the resilient flooring is thoroughly cleaned of any polish etc. If this cannot be done, the existing resilient flooring must be removed and the subfloor made good before proceeding.

PREPARATION

All parts of the installation should comply with the latest edition of the following British Standard Code of Practice: BS5325 The Installation of Textile Floorcoverings of BS8203 The Installation of Resilient Floorcoverings. Another useful source of reference is The CFA Guide to Contract Flooring. Subfloors must be sound, smooth, clean, dry and free from any contamination which will affect adhesion. Relative humidity of cementitious subfloors should be 75% or less (when tested by method described in BS 8203). Direct to earth bases must incorporate an effective damp proof membrane. Underfloor heating must be switched off for 48 hours before and after the installation. Very absorbent surfaces should be primed with a suitable sealer.

APPLICATION

Cut off the first 10- 15cm of nozzle, load cartridge into a skeleton gun, puncture cartridge through the nozzle end, apply adhesive in 6mm beads. Press into position and ensure a good transfer of adhesive has taken place. For a stronger initial bond, press the item into position, then pull it away immediately. Allow to dry apart for 10-20 mins before pressing finally into position.
